John Newman
John Newman is an AILA Registered Landscape Architect and Design Director at NewScape Design. With a passion for landscape and nature that originated from his childhood on a farm in the NSW Riverina, John pursued formal studies in Landscape Architecture at the University of Canberra and the University of Georgia, USA.
Throughout his career, John has gained diverse experience in landscape architecture, urban design, planning, and furniture design, working on projects for clients in both the private and public sectors. Before establishing NewScape, he honed his skills at various design firms in Sydney and also gained valuable experience at the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.
In John’s design process, he prioritises a thorough understanding of the landscape, client requirements, and user needs. By carefully considering these factors, he creates functional and visually appealing spaces that harmonise with nature and cater to human needs. One of John’s areas of expertise lies in designing natural and remote areas, particularly national parks. He possesses extensive experience in project implementation and excels in designing landscape structures and custom furniture.
Over the course of his career, which began in 1997, John has been recognised with numerous awards across categories such as Design, Tourism, and Land Management. These accolades are a testament to his talent, dedication, and contributions to the field of landscape architecture.
