NewScape is pleased to announce that the Three Sisters Track, Blue Mountains National Park is the Tourism category winner at this years AILA NSW Landscape Architecture Awards. Back in 2014-15, NewScape Director John Newman spent 8 months working with the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service Walking Track Team as their in-house designer for the project.
Under highly constrained conditions, the upgrade of the Echo Point to Three Sisters path demonstrates the benefits of careful consideration, judicious process and community consultation in the design of tourist infrastructure. Taking the opportunity to substantially improve conditions for the 600,000 odd pedestrians each year, the formation of an accessible path is a simple, yet important enhancement of this site. This project demonstrates a subtle, well considered design that considers the heritage, difficult terrain and unique sense of place of this important site. (Jury Citation)
Our winning submission has been automatically entered into the National Awards Program, and winners will be announced on the 12th of October at The Grounds of Alexandria.
