Integrated Landscapes

NewScape Design was engaged by Scott Carver Architects to prepare landscape concept plans for a new over‑55s independent living development at the Campbelltown Catholic Club in south‑west Sydney. Located in the heart of Campbelltown and surrounded by key community destinations including the Campbelltown Arts Centre, Macarthur Square and Campbelltown Stadium, the project reimagines part of the existing club site as a welcoming residential community for older residents.

The landscape design focuses on creating a calm, green environment that supports wellbeing, connection and everyday enjoyment of the outdoors. Accessible pathways, shaded seating areas and sensory planting provide opportunities for residents to comfortably move through the landscape and enjoy both social and quiet spaces.

A key aspect of the design is the careful integration of the heritage‑listed Emily Cottage within the contemporary residential setting. Endemic planting is used throughout the landscape to reduce maintenance and strengthen local habitat, while communal gardens and intimate courtyards create spaces for gathering, reflection and connection. Together these elements form a landscape that extends the feeling of home outdoors, supporting residents to remain active, connected and immersed in nature.
