Lynne Czinner Park, formerly the Fern Creek Reserves, is located in the Northern Beaches suburb of Warriewood and forms part of the broader Warriewood Valley open space network. Over the past two decades, Northern Beaches Council has progressively acquired and enhanced open space and riparian corridors to support a successful land release and a connected, liveable community. The park is centred on Fern Creek, a valued riparian corridor and buffer area, and includes the much-loved “Rocket Ship Playground,” retained as a key community asset.
The project focused on transforming land to the south of the creek into an informal recreation area that supports everyday use, community activity and connection to nature. NewScape Design was engaged by Council to develop the detailed design and construction documentation from the adopted masterplan, translating the broader vision into a buildable, site-responsive outcome. As part of Council-led community consultation, NewScape also prepared 3D visualisations to clearly communicate the proposed upgrades and support meaningful community engagement.
The design integrates shared pathways that connect seamlessly with surrounding active transport routes, improving access and movement through the park. A mix of passive recreation spaces, informal open areas and an outdoor gym were carefully located to cater to a diverse range of users, while protecting the ecological integrity of the Fern Creek riparian zone. Preservation of this sensitive habitat was a key design driver throughout the project. Delivered in mid-2024, Lynne Czinner Park now provides a balanced and inclusive recreational landscape, supporting an active, healthy community while retaining the natural character of the creek corridor.
