Freshwater Beach

Parks & Open Space

NewScape Design was engaged by Northern Beaches Council to implement the Freshwater Beach Masterplan—an eagerly anticipated renewal of one of the Northern Beaches’ most iconic coastal destinations and the first major upgrade to the site since the 1980s. The project was shaped by strong community interest and involvement, reflecting the deep connection locals have to Freshwater and the importance of carefully managing change within this highly valued coastal setting.

The implementation phase focused on refining the adopted masterplan to balance budget, user priorities and staged delivery, while responding to peak visitation and evolving community expectations. The completed works enhance coastal ecology, improve functionality and amenity, and retain the essential character that defines Freshwater Beach as a place loved by locals and visitors alike.

NewScape delivered the detailed design and construction documentation for the masterplan works, supported by high-quality 3D visualisations used during community consultation. Leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers, traffic specialists, playground consultants and quantity surveyors, NewScape value-managed the design to deliver a buildable, cost-effective outcome aligned with Council’s objectives.

Now complete, the Freshwater Beach renewal has been embraced by the local community and has become a much-loved green space—supporting everyday recreation, coastal access and community life, while reinforcing Freshwater’s identity as a relaxed and resilient beachfront destination.
