NewScape Design was engaged by NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service to deliver the concept design, documentation and construction services for the upgrade of the Ebor Falls Precinct — a much-loved stop along the Waterfall Way and a key gateway experience within Guy Fawkes River National Park.
The project focused on revitalising ageing infrastructure and reshaping the visitor experience to provide safer, more accessible and better connected facilities while protecting the dramatic natural landscape that makes Ebor Falls so memorable. The design carefully integrates car parking, picnic areas, amenities and lookouts to create a clearer and more intuitive arrival and movement experience, while addressing fire-damaged assets and improving traffic flow, including accommodation for larger vehicles.
Central to the project was the creation of an accessible journey through the precinct, providing improved mobility access to key viewpoints and facilities so visitors of all abilities can experience the falls and surrounding landscape. Upgrades to picnic and BBQ areas, consolidation of amenities, and improved connections to surrounding tracks and local destinations encourage longer stays and deeper engagement with the landscape.
Sustainability principles guided design decisions throughout, with careful material selection, waste minimisation and opportunities to integrate interpretation of the area’s hydrological, ecological and geological values into the visitor experience. The result is a renewed precinct that better supports visitor needs while allowing the power and beauty of Ebor Falls to remain the true focus of the experience.
