A new era in health care
The New Footscray Hospital is located in Melbourne’s booming Western Suburbs. The Victorian Government has provided up to $1.5 billion to deliver the hospital – the largest health infrastructure investment in the state.
The new Footscray Hospital will support the increasing demand from Melbourne’s inner city community, ensuring families can get the care they need closer to home. The local area has a rich history, built on a migrant community it is the home of over 80 nationalities and a melting pot of diverse cultures.
NewScape were commissioned to prepare impressionistic concept renders to bring the interpretation plan for the site to life. The design brief called for the creation of community hubs to cultivate a sense of connection to the broader community, green spaces to reduce the impact of climate change and the re-use of materials from historically significant houses that had previously occupied the site. It is envisaged that the new hospital grounds will provide a breakout space for patients and staff and a passive recreation space for local residents.
